The Nigerians Offer Diets Now?

Diets are boring, and a new miracle pill that can make you lose fifty-pounds while you rest in your armchair, knee-deep in donuts is an almost daily infomercial event. But the ones that actually help are a lot harder to find.

One recent addition to the vast selection of alleged fat-fighting pills is African Mango. Its makers claim it can increase your energy and reduce the fatigue which most diets cause. But does african mango plus work?

The ingredients list is impressive; There’s mango, plus caffeine, green tea and chromium[?]. Tea and caffeine can boost metabolism, but caffeine is also known to cause anxiety, irritability and insomnia. So you might lose weight but you’ll lose sleep as well.

But one piece of evidence from which we can learn quite a lot is the maker’s 90-day Money-back guarantee. It’s only valid if the box is unopened. It’s your money, but frankly I’d pick something else.

How to Revive Detroit?

The last ten years has seen competition in the car industry that caused some great brands to either merge, evolve or fade into history. In the halcyon days when America ruled the road are long gone, according to some people, but they could still return.

A US-made car could be easily picked out of a crowd in some foreign clime; From the iconic styling right down to universal joints that made it all work, they were models of style and dependability which our far eastern friends would do well to study.

Thousands of skilled people need jobs, and engaging them in some creative endeavor while returning Detroit to the teaming hub of auto-themed passion it was, and still deserves to portray would be a worthy project and a fine thing to do. The floor is open, guys – How do we start?

Boot 2 Gecko should give MS nightmares

The cellphone is an indispensable part of most people’s lives, with Android and Apple in the lead and Microsoft getting deservedly beaten on every relevant graph. But Mozilla’s new OS ‘Boot 2 Gecko’ could give Google some worries and should virtually annihilate any sales potential for MS’s laughable effort.

This video is a brief demo of just some of ‘B2G’s potential, and the degree of ‘Want!’ it inspires is almost torture. It’s based on Linux and Open Source tools, so the geek-inclined user will be first to grab it, but the use of FOSS means the phones should cost less than Android units and far less than Apple’s, so sales should really climb once people realize the low price doesn’t mean it’s low quality or hard to use.

Mozilla are promising a wide range of games and apps will be available, but their biggest challenge so far is the name. A disturbing percentage of most cellphone users under 25 can’t even write ‘You’re,’ they write ‘Ur’ to save effort…and Mozilla wants them to get excited about an OS that requires the use of three whole words. This could be a snag.

Watch the demo and tell us your reaction – If you use Android or iOS, would you switch?

The Windoze Experience Deepens

Later this year, they who created the Redmond Virus will release its latest incarnation. And news is already emerging of some unsettling features.

It’s already been reported that the M$ overlords have required ARM chip makers to render their machines unusable if another OS [Linux] is installed, but now comes news that the latest chapter in the Redmond clan’s malodorous efforts to grasp world domination will include a ‘Kill Switch’ – a feature that allows M$ to change programs and even delete code from any user’s machine…without the user’s permission or knowledge.

M$ claim this ‘switch’ will only be used to squash malware, but they have issued no official policy on when it will be used or on what. The ramifications for user privacy and data mining are chilling, but what’s also unsettling is how unsurprising this news is when you consider the culprit.

Will you use W8 now this ‘feature’ is exposed? Leave a comment and let’s get an idea of the response.

Farewell, Mr Jones

It was sad to read of the loss of Davy Jones yesterday. At just 66, a man whose TV profile made him a true influence in the formative years of many people was pulled away from us by what reports say was a heart attack.

And so we say farewell to another icon of kinder days whose like we may never discover. Days when this land was filled with happily employed people, black-and-white TV, some glorious cars and farmers whose hard work in the fields, clad in their best pair of carhartt coveralls kept the rest of us fed every day.

Nostalgia may be popular among today’s teens, but it sure helps to recall what they’ll never see…

Autotune is not talent

Maybe it’s me but modern music is too artificial; Most bands can only exist in the studio and the days when the average musician had the dexterity and commitment to master their instrument are well in the past. Bands were eager to play live and could enthrall an audience with nothing more technical than raw talent, guitar pedals and a few wisps of smoke for effect.

Of course, it could just be encroaching senility that causes the sight of today’s Billboard chart to leave a sour taste, but I doubt it. If you feel the same leave a comment and let’s see where this goes…
